Team

Professor Reto Steiner is dean of the ZHAW School of Management and Law and responsible for academic affairs at the university. From 2002-2016 Reto Steiner was a member of the Executive Board at the Center of Competence for Public Management at the University of Bern, from 2016-2017 Executive Director at the Swiss Institute for Public Management in Bern and from 2016-2018 contract professor at the Free University of Bolzano. In 2013, Professor Reto Steiner served as Visiting Research Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and at the Department of Politics and Public Administration of the University of Hong Kong. In 2020, Reto Steiner was Visiting Professor of "Global Governance" at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Reto Steiner is involved in the governance of higher education institutions as well as in education and further education. He also teaches at the ETH Zurich.

In 2022, Reto Steiner is Chairman of the annual conference of the European Academy of Management (EURAM).

Research interests include the local and regional tier of government, digital transformation of the public sector, semi-autonomous organizations and public enterprises.

Reto Steiner is Principal Investigator of the research project "Digital Transformation at the Local Tier of Government in Europe: Dynamics and Effects from a Cross-Countries and Over-Time Comparative Perspective (DIGILOG)", funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) (Lead Agency) and the German Research Foundation (DFG) (volume: 1.1 million CHF, duration 2022-2024).
