Francesca Chiarvesio is a Swiss Government Excellence post-doctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Schlaufer. Trained as a sociologist at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow (2023), her research focuses on authoritarian political legitimation strategies. In particular, she is interested in the interlink between performance and ideational narratives shaping the distribution of state financial support to civil society organizations in Russia. Previously, she held positions at the OSUN Forum on Democracy and Development, at the Social Scientists’ Association, and at the Central European University. Her works appeared in Globalizations and Problems of Post-Communism.
