Research

The KPM Center for Public Management at the University of Bern studies how public tasks are defined, designed, and managed. Our interdisciplinary work combines theoretical excellence with practical relevance for administration, politics, and society, supporting the evidence-based development of public institutions.

We address key questions regarding organization, governance, legislation, digitalization, regulation, and political steering. Our work lies at the intersection of business administration, economics, political science, and law, and we collaborate with national and international partner institutions.

Our research is internationally recognized and practice-oriented. Findings and insights are published in leading academic journals as well as in the KPM series, actively contributing to the advancement of public institutions.
